Joan LilianCOX31 Jan 1934 - 20 Mar 2020 The extraordinary life of Joan Cox is now complete. Joan passed away at noon on the 20th March with her children at her bedside. Evacuated as a child from London in 1940 to Yorkshire. Joan was married to the late Lt Col Geoffrey Cox OBE in 1955. As a military wife Joan travelled extensively including Harrogate, Quetta, Pakistan, Cyprus, Aldershot, Nigeria, Pau in the South of France and finally Paris with a short visit to Moscow, before settling in Shaftesbury for the last 28 years of her life. In Shaftesbury, Joan was able to reconnect with her mother Lillian Rawlings, to spend time with her children in all their locations while creating a hub for all the family to visit and stay. She was also able to find time for her own spirituality, in 2006 Joan was ordained a Lay Preacher, taking communion to those who were unable to attend Church, and into prisons. This brought her immense peace. Joan is survived by her four children, Mark, Sally, Amanda and Julian and her five grand children, Joe, Megan, Sasha, Lily and Radha. Private funeral service. A memorial service will follow at a later date. All enquiries to Merefield & Henstridge F/D, Ridgemount, Pitts Lane, West Melbury, Shaftesbury, Dorset. SP7 0BU. Tel: 01747 853532
